This applied project targets a decision support tool for flood and storm water management. The goal is a software that can be used by the application partners in two ways: First, it will be possible to test various measures to mitigate the effects of floods and heavy rain on specific areas and infrastructure. Second, the system can generate comprehensible visualizations to help users convey the effects of measures to the general public. An advanced 2D flood simulator will be coupled with a basic sewer network simulator to serve as the basis for the decision making process. On top of this, we will develop intuitive interactions and visualizations to simplify the creation of alternative scenarios. It will be possible to compare alternative options in order to choose the right protection measures for the situation at hand.
